PowerScrub Vacuum Line Cleaner FAQs

How does PowerScrub work?

+

PowerScrub uses a microbial formula that dissolves debris on contact and continues working to remove stubborn buildup. Unlike other cleaners that simply lubricate debris, PowerScrub treats the source of the problem by breaking down organic waste in your vacuum lines and collection container.

How often should I use PowerScrub?

+

Best management practices and manufacturer instructions recommend daily cleaning of your vacuum lines.
PowerScrub should be used at the end of each clinical day AND after any bloody procedures such as extractions, periodontal therapy, or removal of sticky resin restorations.

Is PowerScrub compliant with the EPA Dental Amalgam Rule?

+

Yes, PowerScrub has a neutral pH , which will not dissolve amalgam captured in the amalgam separator and release it into the waste water.

Can I use PowerScrub with my Dry (or wet) Vacuum?

+

Yes! PowerScrub is compatible with both dry and wet ring vacuum systems and works with all amalgam separators. It’s the only vacuum line cleaner recommended for NXT Hg5 Amalgam Separators.

I see PowerScrub uses nano-bubbles. Will this create foam in my vacuum system?

+

No. PowerScrub is a non-foaming cleaner.

The nano-bubbles in SmartScrub Technology are engineered to distribute the microbial cleaner to the walls of the vacuum lines where they attach and consume the debris before collapsing into micro/nano size. PowerScrub gives you effective cleaning without these foam-related risks, which is why it’s safe for all vacuum systems and amalgam separators.

What is the best cleaning procedure?

+

Start with the operatory farthest from your vacuum system and work toward the vacuum room. Keep the cleansed vacuum lines open while moving to the next operatory. Once all lines are clean, close all open vacuum lines. This ensures thorough cleaning throughout your entire system.

How is PowerScrub different from other vacuum line cleaners?

+

PowerScrub treats the cause, not just the symptoms. While other products simply lubricate debris sticking to vacuum line walls, PowerScrub uses microbial action to dissolve and remove stubborn buildup. Its continuous cleaning action keeps working even after application to restore and maintain optimal suction.

How does PowerScrub help my collection container?

+

PowerScrub’s microbial formulation dissolves biologic waste in the collection container, preventing odors and optimizing capacity. By reducing organic material so that only sediment remains, it extends the time between container changes.

Do I have to use hot water with PowerScrub?

+

No! PowerScrub is designed to work at any water temperature, making it incredibly convenient for daily use. This is one of the features dental assistants love most about PowerScrub.

How do I mix PowerScrub?

+

For 1 Operatory: Mix 1 fluid ounce of concentrate with 32 oz (1000 ml) of water.
For 2 Operatories: Mix 2 fluid ounces of concentrate with 64 oz (2000 ml) of water.

Simply invert the PowerScrub bottle to fill the measuring reservoir at the top of the container, then tilt in the opposite direction to remove excess and achieve the desired volume.

Using SideKick Dispenser?

Mix your PowerScrub solution and pour it into the Sidekick dispenser (it holds up to 64 oz for 2 operatories). Attach both your chair-side low-volume and high-volume evacuators to the Sidekick’s dual nozzles and aspirate 32 oz of mixed solution per operatory. The Sidekick creates a vortex that cleans the full interior of your evacuation lines while generating oxygen-rich nano-bubbles for superior cleaning.

Can I premix PowerScrub and store it for later use?

+

No need to premix! PowerScrub works at any water temperature, so mixing takes just seconds whenever you’re ready.

The microbial formula is designed to activate when mixed with water and works best when used immediately.

Simply mix what you need at the end of your clinical day (32 oz per operatory), use it right away, and pour any leftover solution down the cuspidor.

What is the SideKick Dispenser and how do I use it?

+

The PowerScrub Sidekick is a vortex-creating dispenser that:

  • Holds enough diluted cleaning solution for up to 2 operatories (64 oz)
  • Has dual nozzles for simultaneous connection of low-volume and high-volume evacuators
  • Creates oxygen-rich nano-bubbles as the solution is aspirated
  • Enhances cleaning effectiveness through aeration and vortex action

While PowerScrub can be used without the Sidekick, the dispenser is highly recommended. The Sidekick creates a vortex that cleans the full interior of evacuation lines and plumbing, making your cleaning process more effective and efficient. Replace your Sidekick dispenser periodically.

To use Sidekick:

Mix your PowerScrub solution and pour it into the Sidekick dispenser (it holds up to 64 oz for 2 operatories). Attach both your chair-side low-volume and high-volume evacuators to the Sidekick’s dual nozzles and aspirate 32 oz of mixed solution per operatory. The Sidekick creates a vortex that cleans the full interior of your evacuation lines while generating oxygen-rich nano-bubbles for superior cleaning.

Is PowerScrub safe for the environment?

+

Absolutely. PowerScrub is 100% biodegradable and eco-friendly. It’s safe for the environment and septic systems, with no harmful chemicals or fumes. The formula uses beneficial bacteria to break down organic waste naturally.

I'm a first-time user. Is there anything different I should do?

+

Yes. For your first two cleanings, use half the amount of concentrate (0.5 fl oz mixed with 32 oz of water per operatory) to gradually remove accumulated debris from your vacuum lines.

Inspect your amalgam separator collection container fill rate more frequently for the first few weeks as PowerScrub works to dislodge and remove accumulated waste.

After the first two cleanings, follow the full-strength mixture directions.
