Citrisil – Dental Waterline Shock Tablets FAQs
How often should I shock my dental unit waterlines?
Most manufacturers and ADS recommend shocking your dental unit waterlines “regularly.”
Shock immediately if you receive a failed waterline test result or notice odors from your waterlines.
Do I need to remove my Sterisil Straw before shocking?
No! One of the key benefits of Citrisil Shock is that it’s fully compatible with Sterisil® Straws.
There’s no need to remove your straw during the shocking process, which saves you time and maintains your ongoing treatment regimen.
What should I do if I still fail a waterline test after shocking?
If you fail after shocking, you may need to repeat the shock treatment.
Failed again?
We’re here to help
How will I know when the shock treatment is complete?
Citrisil Shock features a convenient color-indicator system.
When first dissolved, it turns the water orange. This color disappears when the shock treatment has been properly flushed, confirming your lines are clean and safe for patient use.
Is Citrisil Shock EPA registered?
Yes, Citrisil Shock is EPA registered and complies with all regulatory requirements for dental waterline treatments.
Will shocking damage my dental equipment?
No. Unlike harsh chemical alternatives that use bleach or peroxide, Citrisil Shock uses silver ion technology that won’t damage dental equipment or corrode instruments.
It’s specifically formulated to be effective against biofilm while remaining gentle on your valuable equipment.
How long does the shocking process take?
The entire shocking process typically takes about 1 hour of active time, though the solution should remain in the lines overnight for maximum effectiveness.
We recommend doing this at the end of your workday.
Can I use other shock products with the Sterisil Straw?
Yes, you can use Sterisil® Straws with other shock treatments, but it’s best to use Citrisil Shock tablets which are specifically designed to work with the Sterisil System.
When using Citrisil, the Sterisil Straw doesn’t need to be removed during shock treatment.
Can I shock multiple operatories at once?
Yes! You can shock multiple operatories simultaneously, making it an efficient process for practices of any size.
